Costilla Park Ranch
Got it bad for elk? Maybe it’s time you try one of the premier big game hunting areas in the West. The Costilla Park Ranch of northern New Mexico is just that place. Since 1979, this 82,000 plus acre private ranch, has provided opportunities for the discriminating hunter to harvest some of the finest big game trophies in North America. This ranch and outfitter have managed for trophy animal production, 5x5 restrictions on elk and 4x4 on muley, for over 20 years. An average bull here will score 300-340 and mule deer range from 135-180. In both cases larger are seen and taken each year. The two main guides have both been on this ranch for over 15 years. They both know every inch of its terrain and will work hard to put you in the right place. Rifle, muzzleloader, and archery hunts are all available.

Eastern
This outfitter offers a wide variety of hunts throughout West Texas and New Mexico. Species include whitetail deer, mule deer, coues deer, antelope and elk. The elk hunts take place in several locations in New Mexico, one of which borders the famous Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation, known for producing 300 to 350 Pope and Young bulls. Mule deer and Coues deer hunts take place in southwestern and south central New Mexico. The whitetail hunts are conducted exclusively in West Texas. All of these hunts produce trophy class animals with excellent success rates. Antelope are hunted only on select ranches offering hunters a very good chance at a Boone and Crockett class animal. This is an excellent hunt for the young hunter because the weather is pleasant and the antelope density is very high. A wide variety of species, season dates, weapon choices, and costs allows this outfitter to provide something for every hunter.

These New Mexico elk hunts take place on the much sought after Gila National Forest in western New Mexico. The Gila is a very broad and beautiful area that has consistently produces trophy class bulls. This outfitter offers archery, muzzleloader and rifle hunts. Hunters should be aware that these hunts can be physically demanding due to the rugged terrain. Sometimes being successful depends on the physical abilities of the hunter. Conditioning before the hunt is highly recommended. Accommodations depend on the hunt and can range from a wall tent to a hotel. For those who do not like the “camping aspect,” guide only packages can be arranged where you stay in a hotel at your own expense and provide your own meals.

Trophy NM Elk
These private land elk hunts are conducted on one of the best trophy elk ranches in the state. This unit is adjacent to the Arizona border and encompasses over 300,000 acres! Rifle hunts start in early October and run through the end of January and are conducted by spot and stalk, stands and calling. This ranch holds great elk in both quality and quantity! These ranches are private property, so all elk hunting is exclusive to this outfitter and their clients. Hunters will stay in rustic, but comfortable cabins or tent camps where the sound of the bugling elk will most certainly keep you awake at night!
