Lake Trout

The vision of this pioneer fishing outfitter began in 1939 with a one-cabin operation in the Arctic. His dream of flying people into virgin waters in pursuit of trophy lake trout was just the beginning of what today is one of the premier trophy fishing destinations in the arctic region. The operation now covers both Great Bear Lake and Great Slave Lake.

Great Slave combines trophy lake trout, arctic grayling, northern pike and a fly out for walleye fishing with one of the best opportunities to view arctic wolves, moose, bald and gold eagles, black bears and other famous northern creatures. This is the fifth largest lake in North American and is located amongst stunning landscapes and ancient forests.

Great Bear is home to the biggest lake trout in the world. In August of 2000 a 78 pound laker was caught and released to fight again. World class arctic grayling is only a short boat ride from the lodge and pike over 20 pounds are becoming more common.

A full day (24 hours) fly out will take you from the main lodge to the Tree River for an unforgettable arctic char experience. Whether spin or fly fishing, the Tree is not to be missed.

Both lakes offer full service lodges and include heated cabins with modern plumbing, electricity, hot showers, and good beds. Meals are hearty and delicious. Trip costs include your flight from the Winnipeg airport on their own private chartered airplane. See you up North!

Kasba Lake
Located 430 miles south of the Arctic Circle, Kasba Lake has hundreds of miles of shoreline. This rugged terrain is accented with rocky outcrops, muskeg bogs and intermittent groves of black spruce. This structure and the multitude of islands contained in this watershed presents countless fishing opportunities.

The main lodge lies adjacent to the lake, with the boat bay only steps away from your private cabin. Enjoy comfortable accommodations in a tranquil setting. You will discover hearty meals and excellent service in the dining room. The licensed lounge is an opportune place to hear all the new fishing stories.

Fly-outs are available for those who crave adventure. A DHC-2 Beaver float plane will be on site to facilitate those who wish to take advantage of the local lakes and rivers. The Kazan River is home to an excellent population of unusually large arctic grayling.

The average weekly temperature is 45-70 degrees Fahrenheit in June-August.

Direct charter flights to the lodge originate in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is easy to reach via several major airlines. Flying time is just 2 ½ hours, landing on their private airstrip a few hundred yards away from the main lodge and some of the best fishing in Canada.

After you have confirmed your fishing adventure at the lodge, plan to be in Winnipeg the day before departure as your flight to the lodgeleaves early in the morning. Arriving at the lodge(before noon) you will be served a hot lunch. Following lunch you will be checked in and assigned to your cabin, guide, and dining room. A fishing license will be issued before you head out fishing.
