Client Testimonials

Greg,

Sorry this is a crazy time of year in my business.  I have been working day and night, seven days a week since I got back from New Mexico.  The elk hunt was absolutely fantastic.  I had a great time!  Thank you for the great recommendation, I would hunt with the outfitter again.  Thank you!

Hey Marc,

I wanted to let you know how my corporate group in Texas did.  I was able to hunt with and film the first half of the group (10 hunters and 1 non hunter).  We actually got 5 kills on tape, 3 whitetail and 2 boar.  The group was so happy after the first day they were asking about dates for next year.  This outfitter has an excellent team working for them and they know how to take care of our customers.

Marc,

I just returned from a trip to South Texas with 7 clients.  They wanted to mix it up so we hunted geese three mornings, fished one morning and one afternoon, hunted a preserve for quail for two afternoons and 4 of us even hog hunted for one afternoon.  The geese hunt was very fast in terms of the number of geese in the air, but pretty slow in the harvest area due to the high skies and lack of wind.  The guides were awesome and we really enjoyed their company and were impressed with their equipment and skills.  It was my first goose hunt and I really enjoyed it.  I wouldn't hesitate sending anyone there!

Marc,

I finally received some pictures from my group who went to Ontario.  They had a great time.  It was a little hot and the fishing was slow on the big water with some fronts coming through.  But their flyout was the highlight of the trip.  They caught a ton of smallies with some around the 17-18" mark.  It was good enough to turn a diehard walleye guy into a bass fan!  They caught a few muskies, but none of the trophy size.  The guys had such a great time with the smallies that they really didn't fish much for muskie.  They were very happy with the staff and the service.

Hey Marc,

Heard back from my client who went to Manitoba for caribou.  He said the lodge was awesome!  He was very impressed with their operation.  He connected with two B&C bulls and combined with great service at the lodge, he came back a very satisfied client.

Steve Gerntholz    12/5/06

Marc,

Our 4 hunters from Montana have returned with big smiles.  Their comments on the entire trip were very positive. Lodging, meals and hunting were all rated as great.

Tracey,

I just talked to my two hunters that went elk hunting in New Mexico.  As you know, the guide had called before the hunt concerned about the elk not coming down out of the mountains because it was still too warm.  My clients decided to go anyhow.  The dad shot a 4x4 the first day and his son shot a 4x4 the third day.  They are both having their elk mounted and they had to go to two big ice chests to bring the meat home!

Tracey,

I have talked to my client that hunted in Kansas.  He was very happy.  He said the guide worked very hard for him and his mom was a great cook!  He said the outfitter had 10 hunters in that week and 8 of them took bucks.  They were 80% on an archery hunt!  That is AWESOME!  He wants to go back and maybe take his grandsons on a turkey hunt.  It is great to have great outfitters.  It sure makes my job easier....and more fun!

Tracey,

I thought I would forward the response from Craig Terry regarding the fishing trip over the weekend.

Incredible!  We caught at least 20 sturgeon on Saturday.  We could only keep one a piece.  Awesome, really, really awesome.  We took home quite a bit of meat.  The meat will cost $30 a pound at the market and we had at least 10 pounds.  That paid for the trip right there.  The guide was great and we all got along excellent.  We had no luck on Sunday for steelhead and salmon.  The winter season is too early and too late for fall.  That is OK since I can go do that anytime.  The weather was really bad that day.  We ended up fishing all day both days.  Craig Terry

Marc,

I wanted to relay some feedback about our upland hunt trip to you.  It was outstanding. The outfitters were very hospitable hosts.  The two lodges were very comfortable.  The meals were phenominal and the hunts were very productive.  We had 16 in our group and we killed 680 birds in 3 days.  450 quail, 180 pheasant, 50 chucker.  Lots of shooting, lots of fun.  We had a great time.

Marc,

I just returned from South Carolina this past Friday. I stayed for 6 days and had a great experience. The owner is very knowledgeable and was hands on from making coffee in the morning to quartering and packing your meat for the drive home. I didn’t harvest a hog while I was there, but did harvest a 175# 8-point on Monday morning and a doe. Multiple hogs and deer were harvested each day. This outfitter is a great destination for the turkey hunter as well. I saw birds each day. The most I saw at one time was 35 and some smaller flocks of large toms (10-12inch beards). This is a great destination for the experienced hunter, the first time hunter, families and those who just wish to unwind and relax.  They will be breaking ground for their new lodge by Thanksgiving 2006. Marc,

Bill Bowering, Gina and I just returned from a speed goat hunt in Montana.  We had 8 hunters in camp.  The hunt started late on the 8th because of very wet conditions.  By the end of the day, however, the camp was 8 for 8.  What a hunt!

Tracey,

Spoke to my group who just left Blackstone Safaris.  Hunting conditions were less than ideal, many of the seasonal potholes were dry this year and the weather was cold and clear with lows in the teens and highs in the mid thirties.  What little water there was, froze every night.  Although the conditions were less than ideal, the hunting was fantastic!  My client could be considered a waterfowl hunting addict and he is very particular. He is also a very happy man.  Group of four totals (two of which were very novice hunters):

Day one morning shoot - 18 dark geese including a limit of specs, PM shoot 32 ducks in 40 minutes over a wheat field.

Day two a.m. shoot 32 honkers
PM shoot 20 ducks over half frozen water

Day three am shoot - 18 geese.

My client went out of his way to say that he thought superior effort by the guides and top notch equipment made the difference.  They visited with other hunters in the area who were struggling to birds on the ground.  Our reputation as a company and an agent is on the line each time we book a trip...  This is my third year with hunters in Blackstone's camp and will not be my last!

Marc,

I just spoke to Jim Gunion, who returned a little tired and about 10 pounds lighter than when he left, but after 6 hard days of hunting, he connected on a monster 7x4 mule deer that scored a touch over 190", with 7" bases.  Once again, Scott in B.C. delivers on monster muley's!

Marc,

Lawrence in Alaska really knows how to take care of a group.  Everyone was very happy with how things went.  The food was outstanding, king crab the first night and prime rib the second night.  Fishing was fantastic even though we were late in the season, I still caught 6 species and several of them were very nice.  All of the personnel from the lodge were very professional and the guides knew everyone by name.  I will definitely be recommending my corporate accounts to this lodge.

Greg Ray 9/10/06

Just to let you know, I just had a client return from a Maryland fishing trip on Aug 25th.  They had the best trip ever with them.  They caught their limit of rockfish early in the morning.  They then caught bluefish, which were good size as well.

Tracey,

One of our outfitters in Texas continues to produce for OC clients.  Although Texas in August is a tough sell, it is a great time to hunt hogs.  My group there last week saw over 100 hogs and shot three.  This is this groups fourth trip with this outfitter and they are already planning their next trip.

Dan Rieves 8/17/06

Hey Jason,

I think this was the most enjoyable trip yet!  I'm looking forward to next years trip, as well as opening weekend.

Tracey,

I just wanted to let you know that my clients that went to Ontario fishing the first week in July had a blast.  They were very impressed with how great the fishing was and how much the staff bent over backwards to help them out.  The clients informed me that they caught a lot of pike that were in the 30" to 36" range.  They also filled up on walleye with 25 to 30 caught a day.  This was their first time to Ontario and they plan to go back in a few years.

Steve Shedd 7/11/06

Marc,

My clients have returned from Quebec and they can't say enough about the quality of the trip and the manner in which they were treated.  All four harvested bears and my client that made the original inquiry said his son told him "it was the best week of my life."

Howard Gulick 6/26/06

Tracey,

My clients just returned from Ontario (Lake of the Woods) on a four day trip.  They fished two days with a guide and two days without a guide.  They reported that the fishing was much better with a guide.  One of the clients caught a 25 inch walleye and got her name on the number one spot on the fish board.  They enjoyed the shore lunches and reported that the food at the lodge was also outstanding.  They felt the place was very well managed, exceptionally clean and attractive.  Another thumbs up for OC satisfied customers.

Gerald Sampen 6/26/06

Marc,

I finally was able to catch up to my two bear hunters that went to Newfoundland.  They had a great time.  After some shooting problems, they were both able to tag nice bear.

Dave Powers  6/16/06

Mark,

I can't say enough about the time we had in Idaho.  The staff was absolutely wonderful.  They meet our every need 100%.  I saw bear every night while hunting.  The game was there and my guide, Rich, worked his butt off to assist me in harvesting my bear with a bow.  I can't thank you enough for the experience my wife and I had.  OC really does the deal.  Next dream...a big whitetail in Texas with my bow.

Carl Vitanza  5/24/06

I just got off the phone with my customer who went to Idaho for a turkey hunt.  He could not say enough good things about the staff and said there were birds all over the place.  He passed up 3 birds before he got his first bird and also took a second one.  The first bird he took had a 10.5625 inch beard, spurs of 1.0625 for both right and left and weighed 18 pounds.  This makes him the #5 scored Merriam ever killed in Idaho and #175 in the country.

Greg Ray 5/13/06

Hi Larry,

Just returned from Florida.  What a great experience.  Greg Stafford is a great guy and really delivered.  I took 4 gators, one that was 12'1", one that was 12'8", and two about 10'.  Forty four feet of alligator.  Wow!

Neil Fisk  4/11/06

Marc,

I spoke with my client, Dick Alford, about his turkey hunt with the lodge in Texas.  They crew down there hit another homerun.  He said that at first, the turkey country didn't look like much, but once they got out in the morning, they literally saw hundreds of birds.  He couldn't say enough about the people and service down there, and that he and his buddy took four dandy birds.

Steve Ellenson  4/5/06

Marc,

My group just returned from Argentina and everyone had a great time.  There were 11 guys total and they shot 37,725 rounds and had 17,365 birds.  They couldn't believe there were more birds than the last place they hunted in Argentina.

George Boecklin 3/27/06

My client returned from his trip to Lake El Salto and said he had a great time and would recommend it to anyone that likes to bass fish.  He caught around 60 fish in his 2 1/2 days fishing, the largest he landed was 8 pounds.  He told me he had several larger bass on his line, but his line broke when trying to get those to the boat.  He reported that the food was really great and they treated him like a king.  He said the fishing guide told him that this time of year wasn't really the best fishing (which he knew before going), but he said it was still the best fishing he has ever experienced.  His last comment to me was that he hopes he can go back next year during the peak of the fishing season.

Rick Beaulieu  3/8/06

Marc,

I had some clients fish for peacock bass in Florida and they had a great time.  They said Frank, the captain, did a great job of finding fish, even though it wasn't the best time for peacocks.

Steve Gerntholz  3/6/06

Rick,

My clients had a great time in Florida bass fishing.  They caught about 50 fish per boat.  They were very happy and will be going back again soon.

Marc,

Just returned from our 2nd annual cast and blast in Lake Charles.  Between myself and Trey Smith, we had 9 guys total.  Good time.  Lake Charles certainly took a hit from the last hurricane, but the outfitter's place is fine.  The duck/goose hunting was pretty good for the last week of the season, although next year we will go earlier.  We harvested many specks, and a few mallards and a couple of snow geese.  This fishing was not great, but we caught a few good sized trout.  The food, just like always was top notch.  All in all, a good time.

Eric Sommer  1/27/06

Johnny,

I just got back from my lion hunt and had a great time but did not get my lion.  The weather was not the best as it was warm, windy and dry.  The outfitter was super and could not have worked any harder.  The food was plentiful and good, equipment was very new and in great shape, guides were very good and the dogs were as well.  Lodging was in a fifth wheel all to ourselves.  The outfitter let us reschedule our hunt with him for this year or next year.  The only negative was the lack of a shower.

Tom Vojtech  1/26/06

Marc,

My clients just returned from Idaho who were on an elk hunt.  Eric got his elk the first day, however his dad was not so lucky and came back empty handed, but that's hunting.  Eric took a nice 6x6 bull.
